Dr Louis Guy

Dr Louis Guy is a specialist anaesthetist who works in both public and private practice. During his anaesthetic training he undertook a fellowship in anaesthesia for upper GI, hepatobiliary and bariatric (weight loss) surgery at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.

Dr Guy has also completed a postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Ultrasound with the University of Melbourne. He has undertaken research focusing on anaesthesia for bariatric surgery and has also developed the postoperative Obstructive Sleep Apnoea Guidelines which are used at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and have been adopted by Redcliffe Hospital.

As a specialist anaesthetist Dr Guy practices in a wide range of specialised areas of anaesthesia, including major procedures for oesophago-gastric cancer, liver and bariatric surgery, as well as smaller procedures including cataract and other eye surgery. With the increasing utilisation of minimally invasive surgical techniques, Dr Guy also has an understanding of the anaesthetic implications of robotic surgery including robotic prostatectomy, nephrectomy and cystectomy.

Louis enjoys interacting with patients and creating a pleasant working environment for the members of the operating theatre.
Outside of medicine, Louis prioritises spending time with his family, including building lego with his son.
