Dr Shital Patel graduated in medicine from Kings College University London, England in 2006. She completed anaesthetic training in the UK before moving to Brisbane. During training she undertook multiple anaesthetic fellowships including aeromedical retrieval in Sydney, Hepatobiliary and Liver Transplant surgery at Kings College Hospital in London, a fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at The Royal Womens’ Hospital in Sydney and Mater Womens’ Hospital Brisbane.

 

Dr Patel currently works in both private and public practice, including a Staff Specialist appointment at the Princess Alexandra Hospital since 2020. Her expertise includes anaesthesia for head and neck, plastic reconstructive, ENT, major abdominal, orthopaedic, neurosurgical, hepatobiliary and transplant (liver and kidney) surgery. She is a current member of the Liver Transplant team, which underscore her commitment to providing life changing care to patients.

 

She is known for her warm and approachable demeanour, always striving to create a safe and comfortable environment for her patients. Her commitment to patient care extends beyond the operating room, encompassing the entire perioperative journey.

 

Outside of work she enjoys running and travel, also loves to cook and is always keen for a good restaurant recommendation from fellow food enthusiasts.
