Dr Cecilia Xu completed her medical degree at the University of Queensland and undertook specialist anaesthetic training across South East Queensland. She subsequently completed a fellowship at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, with a focus on anaesthesia for general surgery and head and neck surgery, followed by a second fellowship at The Royal Marsden Hospital in London, specialising in anaesthesia for major cancer surgery.

Dr Xu currently works across both public and private practice and holds a Staff Specialist appointment at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. She provides anaesthesia for a broad range of surgical specialties, including obstetrics and gynaecology, neurosurgery, head and neck surgery and orthopaedic surgery, with particular clinical interests in upper gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary surgery. She is also a Senior Lecturer with the University of Queensland and is involved in education and examination preparation for local trainees as well as simulation teaching in Papua New Guinea.

Dr Xu is committed to high-quality, patient-centered anaesthetic care, with a focus on helping patients feel safe and comfortable. She values clear communication, teamwork and creating a positive working environment for the perioperative team.

Outside of work, Dr Xu enjoys travelling, keeping active and making pottery.
