Dr Mike Busser

Specialist Anaesthetist

Dr Michael Busser is a staff specialist in Anaesthesia at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. Originally from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada he relocated toAustralia in 2010 before graduating from medicine at the University ofQueensland in 2013 with distinction. He went on to complete his anaesthetic training across Queensland, achieving merit certificates for his performance inboth the Primary and Final ANZCA Examinations.

 

In 2022 he completed a fellowship at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital(RBWH), before spending a year abroad at Toronto Western Hospital (UHN),Canada, where he completed a fellowship specializing in regional anaesthesia and acute pain management. 

 

He returned to Australia as a Staff Specialist at the RBWH in 2023 where he continues to be actively involved in junior doctor education and quality improvement projects for both the Regional Anaesthesia service, and the AcutePain Service. Dr Busser enjoys maintaining a broad case mix with special interest is anaesthesia for orthopaedics, plastic and reconstructive surgery, maxillofacial surgery, ophthalmic procedures, and management of acute pain after surgery.

 

Dr Busser has a number of interests outside of work including coaching and playing ice hockey, baseball and rock climbing. When not outdoors staying active, he enjoys spending time with his partner and two dogs, Kaiju and Momo.
