Dr Zenan Franks
Dr Zenan Franks completed his Doctor of Medicine at Griffith University in 2016 and undertook his anaesthetic specialty training in Brisbane. During 2024 he completed a fellowship in providing anaesthesia for complex airway and head & neck surgeries at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH). He was appointed as a Staff Specialist at RBWH in 2025 where his clinical role sees him provide anaesthesia for a wide range of different surgical specialties including general surgery, ear nose & throat, maxillofacial, orthopaedic, urology, obstetrics, gynaecology, vascular and neurosurgery amongst others.
Prior to pursuing medicine Dr Franks was a practicing engineer, however, he found he desired a career in health care and was fascinated by the overlap of his grounding in physics, chemistry and biology and how these principles apply in the field of anaesthesia. He feels privileged to look after his patient’s anaesthetic care during their surgical journey and he strongly believes in a patient centred approach.
Outside of work Dr Franks enjoys spending time with his wife and kicking all types of footballs in the backyard with his young children. He is an active distance runner and is a keen football fan following the Brisbane Lions and also Newcastle United in the EPL.
